SJ Fit Kids is a cardiovascular fitness and healthy lifestyle program presented to students at partner k-8 schools in San Joaquin County.  Our mission is to help kids enjoy physical activity and make healthy lifestyle choices. We work with our partner schools to help shape the attitudes and culture of the school community (students, parents, teachers and staff).  We want to build an  emphasis on fitness and health. As a result of this presence at the schools, we help to combat the serious problem of un-fit, inactive youth and a lack of time and resources for adequate physical education in our schools.

We base our our program on simple, individual cardiovascular activity.  With no complex rules, equipment, or the competitive pressure that comes with team sports, our program makes it easy for children to feel the benefit of exercise.  SJ Fit Kids helps to inspire kids to get fit, stay fit, and make positive choices for their future. Kids feel the joy and self-esteem  that comes with giving their best effort and setting long term fitness goals.
SJ Fit Kids
During the year we go into the school four times per semester.  We have the children participate in a timed distance run.  Grades 1-4 run 1/2 mile while grades 5-8 run one mile.  The students times are recorded and used as a goal for future improvement. These times are also compared with the standards set out in the "Health Fitness Zone"
